Using Safe Height Fence Panels
How high is Safely High Enough to Use ColorBond Fences? ColorBond Fencing panels for the everyday, relatively flat ground range in the 1000 mm to 2100mm. There are many other height ratings offered by this excellent fence system, which means that a good choice of fences will offer you more than one protection and still look good at the same time.
The most important rating that you need to look for when buying ColorBond fence panels is the Safe height of the fence panels. This rating is very important as it will allow you to know whether you have installed the fence correctly or not. It is always wise to take a little bit of time before you set out to actually build the fence because if it doesn’t fit correctly it will be a safety hazard.
It should not matter how much you think you know about installing fences or even how long you’ve been fencing but the Safe height rating should always be checked when you’re not sure. If you find that your fence panel is too high or too low, you can easily install a fence ladder so that you can get up and down in order to make sure that your new fence is perfectly placed and works correctly.
Once you have found the Safe height you want to install the fence then you’ll need to find the panel that is exactly right for your situation. The panel that you need to buy will depend on what you’re using the fence for. For example a wooden or vinyl fence might require a different panel then a concrete or ceramic one.
If you’ve already found the appropriate panel then it’s easy to decide where the panel is going to go and also what material it’s going to be made from. You can buy fence panels from almost any hardware store and they will usually have a lot of options available. The panel will probably be sold with instructions for you to follow and once you’re sure about where you want to put it and what it’s made from you’re ready to head home and get started.
The next thing you will need to do is prepare the soil for your fence panels. Some people like to use pebbles and stones to help prevent erosion when building their fence, others prefer to use rocks and stones but you really don’t need to.
When you have the soil ready then you need to dig a hole in the area that you are going to place your fence in. Make sure that you only dig so that the fence panels fit and that there are no gaps between the panels.
Now fill in the hole with the soil and make sure that you keep the soil at ground level. This is all that’s needed to install the panels but if there is some loose dirt it is OK as well.
Once you have your soil ready, you’re ready to install the fence panels. They need to be fitted in the holes you dug and this means that you should measure the panel where the panel ends.
You need to cut the panel to the correct size but don’t forget to leave some extra at the top of the panel. If you do then you can use this to measure the top rail for the fence. Remember that the top rail has to be exactly one foot from the floor.
Once the top rail is measured then you can slide the panel into the hole. Slide the other end of the rail over to the opposite end of the panel and slide the rail on the other side.
Now you need to install the first panel then the next. The last panel needs to be installed then you can re-attach the second panel. It will be a lot easier to do if you use a bit of joint compound before installing the fence panels because the compound will act as glue.
